How To Play

Royal Gambit is a game of strategy, bluffing, and bold decisions. Follow these steps each turn:

1. Starting Player

  • The youngest player takes the first turn.

  • Turns then proceed clockwise.

  • In future games, the player who was eliminated first in the previous round starts.

2. Redistribute HP (Optional)

At the start of your turn, you may move Health Points (HP) between your Royal and your characters however you like.

3. Choose and Declare an Action

On your turn, you must do one of the following:

  • Announce a Character and Use Its Ability
Claim a character, state its action, and target another player if required.

  • Use a Royal Power
Activate one of your Royal’s abilities.

4. Accusations & Counteractions

After you declare an action, other players may respond:

  • Accusation – A player can claim you’re lying.

    • If an accusation is made, counteractions are not allowed.

    • If the lie is proven, you’re penalized. If you were truthful, your action succeeds and the accuser is penalized.

  • Counteraction – A player may claim a character that counteracts your action.

    • Counteractions can also also be accused of being lies.

    • Multiple counteractions may be declared against the same action.

5. Resolve the Turn

  • Apply the declared action, successful counteractions, and any penalties.

6. End Turn

  • If any cards were returned to the deck, shuffle it.

  • Play passes clockwise to the next player.

7. Winning

  • The player with the last Royal left standing wins.
